The Station Hotel in Dudley was opened in 1898. Modernised and extended in the 1930s, the hotel regularly drew in business from the newly opened Hippodrome Theatre from audience and stars alike. The hotel was further extended and modernised in the 1960s with the opening of the ballroom and an upstairs cocktail bar. This incarnation of the hotel is what can be seen today and its varying twentieth century influences can be seen throughout the buidling.
SPG investigated this location in May 2008. It was a quiet night on the whole. Our investigation focused on the haunted bedrooms 213 to 218. One team had trouble leaving 218 when the door appeared to jam. Another team conducted Scrying in 218 where all team members present experienced some facial changes. One team member stayed in room 213 overnight and reported hearing dragging and banging sounds next door in room 214. We can rule out any of these rooms being occupied as the group had effectively isolated the haunted rooms when hiring out the five room. The cellar proved quite active with lights seen on the corridor during a vigil in the large "catwalk" room. A team member felt sick during the vigil and had to leave the room. Our biggest moment on the investigation was being allowed into the former male toilets that had been closed and abandoned for at least fifteen years. The hotel had discovered the toilets a week before the investigation and we were the first Paranormal Group to investigate the area, a true privilege that we are sincerely grateful to the hotel and staff for.
