The Black Swan is a former coaching Inn built in 1737 located in the Market Square of Devizes. Now functioning as a pub and hotel, the building is well known for its paranormal activity, particulary in the cellars where a tunnel that appears to connect the pub to other buildings in the town.
Several SPG team members joined unXplained Investigations on their vigil back in May 2004. Unusual EMF activity was picked up in Room 4 around a chair where an apparition of a woman has been seen. The Conference room saw a sit down vigil around the conference table. Whilst little was detected, the lock off camcorder regularly lost focus and although the battery was fully charged before the investigation, the camera lost power during this vigil after still showing almost a full charge beforehand. The team communicated with a young male spirit in the cellar who appeared to be grounded. One team member attempted crystal dowsing but had to stop after the crystal began moving in an anticlockwise direction (supposedly a sign of negative energy) and the team member reported a sharp tingling moving up their arm. EVP was also picked up in the cellar and can be listened to on the left of this page. This footage has been slowed down in order to pick up the voice that can be heard towards the end of the audio footage.
