The Regent Theatre is located in the Cultural Quarter of Stoke City Centre. The building, opened in 1929 was originally a luxury cinema featuring Art Deco design. During the 1950s the venue was renamed "The Gaumont" and during the 50's and 60's was used for pop gigs and amateur productions amongst others. In 1974 the building became a cinema once again as it became a three screen Odeon cinema. The cinema remained open until 1989 when it was closed due to Odeon opening an ieight screen cinema on Festival Park. The Regent lay empty until 1999 when it was renovated with a lot of the original Art Deco decoration restored and reopened as The Regent Theatre.
SPG investigated this location in August 2004 Our Psychics independently of each other picked up on a little girl who appeared like Alice in Wonderland. It was felt that this girl was scared of a man who chased her around the theatre, this man was picked up as a dark shadow. It is interesting to note that two years later at the Victoria Hall (the adjacent venue) that this man was picked up on again by a new member of the team. Other readings included people who appeared to be dressed austerely, at least one suicide and the smell of burning (the building had been unused for three weeks prior to the investigation).
